An Ex’s Love for Tex-Mex

Due to the LOC office spending a profuse amount time thinking about Cinco de Mayo this week, one LOC team member found herself recounting her first Mexico-flavored memories of New Orleans. And we weren’t surprised to find that these memories revolved around Margaritas at Superior Grill.

mexico-flavored, mindless musings:
The first time I caught wind of Superior Grill was when my boyfriend drunk dialed me to tell me about it on a Sunday afternoon. Apparently he was out having lunch with his new boss and fellow coworkers and they were completely hammered off of drinking margaritas.

I understand that to most of you reading this, it probably sounds like a pretty typical Sunday in New Orleans.

However, at this point and time, I had yet to move to this great city of all that is big and easy. Consequentially, I had yet to come to terms with the fact that:
-          New Orleans has 7-day weekends
-          My boyfriend was a lightweight that could get completely drunk after two frozen, strawberry cocktails.
Thus, having to quickly come to terms with all of these new concepts, I was quickly forced into a full-on, Terms of Endearment emotional state, full of anger and denial.  And no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get rid of my bewilderment as to why I was diligently observing God’s day of rest whilst my boyfriend was drunkenly enjoying a siesta-depraving, Mexican fiesta over 1000 miles away?

Ohhhhhhhhhh, what a naive little niña I was.

Looking back, it saddens me that it took me so long to discover that my boyfriend and I’s relationship was doomed, and more importantly, that there are much more holy ways to relish in the Lord’s Day.

I am now a proud believer that Jesus turned water into wine for a reason. I also fully believe that if some Mexicans happened to have legally found their way into Jerusalem, that Jesus would have turned water into Margaritas as well.

Therefore, until the day I get to drink wine with Jesus in heaven, I will be busy embracing heaven on earth with margaritas at Superior Grill.
