A Big, Easy Weekend

It’s not like we don’t attempt to live each weekend like it’s our last weekend on earth. Yes we suffer from intense bouts of #YOLO and #FOMO. However it’s still a rarity for us to be fully satisfied that a weekend is over upon the arrival of a Monday morning. But this weekend was different. For some odd reason we are fully content with being at work today as we ride out the weekend’s high. And we don’t even really think that having next Monday off for Memorial Day is playing into this feeling of content.

Here are some highlights on the great weekend that was.

Friday:
The Columns Hotel - 3811 St. Charles Ave
The heat of summer hit Nola in full force last week which made a night sitting on the porch at The Columns’ sipping Tom Collins’ become the most appealing activity in the world.

A Tom Collins; apparently Mr. Collins liked his cucumbers large ginormous
 Saturday:

The “most beautiful game in the world” was at its zenith on Saturday with the UEFA Champions League final with Bayern Munich vs Chelsea. Of course we watched the game at Tracey’s (our BFBF) and relished in the opportunity to spend a Saturday watching ‘football’ there – a nice precusor to what we’ll be doing every Saturday this fall.

We had only planned on hanging around for the two hours that soccer games normally last whilst having a couple of drinks. However the two hours quickly became 4 as the championship lasted through overtime and a shoot out... and we had a couple $30 Groupons to drink our way through. (Seriously, Groupon, we spend enough time at Tracey's as it is. You really don't have to give us any extra incentive.)
Then of course as we were already feeling a little too saucy when the clock struck 4pm, we were handed a ticket to participate in a free pub crawl. "Make your way from Tracey’s -> Rendezvous -> Balcony Bar -> Bulldog by 6pm and win a prize?" You don’t have to ask us twice. And even  an hour later when we chose to read the card a little closer and found out that our “prize” was a free pub glass from Bulldog (you know the place that gives you a free pub glass with every draft you consume on Wednesday nights?) we still took on the challenge. There was something about it being a “limited edition” pub glass that just really ignited our fire.
Our pot o' gold at the end of the pub crawl rainbow
And the night was wonderfully capped off with a bustling night at The Rusty Nail. In which we made a conscious effort to consume many Miller Lites as we still retained enough brain power to recognize that a sole Electric Lemonade would have surely brought the lusciously long day to an abrupt end.

Sunday:

The weekend was perfectly perfected on Sunday with 2 for 1 daiquiri specials, a 12 pack of beer and a bag of Doritos for a day spent at a fishing camp in Delacroix, Louisiana.

What’s not pale and not tan and red all over? Us after spending 5 hours on a boat out in this...
"No seriously, you don't even look like you've gotten any color yet"
And no Sunday / weekend of binging is ever really complete without devouring a cheeseburger from Harbor Bar and Grill.

Bite into this guy and you'll have all of the happiness of Christmas morning right there in your mouth. And we apologize for this picture being pure torture to look at.

So as we said, it was a damn great weekend and we don’t have a complaint in the world today. Except of course  if you count the aching of our livers and the painfully red condition of our skin… but that would be the equivalent of someone winning the lottery and complaining that their wallet isn't big enough to fit all of their money...
